Laptops for Kids

Developing computer skills for children and young adults is one of our main priorities. With an International Matching Grant with Rotary, we provided several dozen computers in ten locations (schools and libraries) in rural areas of SouthWest Romania - Dolj County. These locations will act as Information and Multimedia Centers for each community - help kids, and young adults develop their Computer literacy and help them improve their English skills. The project will be implemented at the end of 2010 / beginning of 2010.

Aside from these Centers, we committed to provide at least one laptop per year per child. Currently, we have limited resources for this project. If you are interested in sponsoring a child with a laptop (new or used), we'll provide you with the full information, picture, and location of the children you sponsor, and will arrange the transportation overseas, to Romania. Or you will have the option of shipping it yourself, if you prefer. We simply ask that an used laptop shall not be over sixteen months old.

Rotary Bookmobile

The Bookmobile is a US$37,500 project completed in collaboration with seven Rotary Clubs from US and Romania. The bookmobile is mobile center for disseminating information to people in rural areas. It has books, laptops, CDs, Internet [wireless] connectivity, and will be powered in the future by alternative (solar and wind) energies.
